Message from Our President
Chartered on June 27, 1981, the Prince George’s County Section is comprised of a group of dedicated women with a common goal of upholding the mission and vision of our founder, Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune and President Emeritus, Dr. Dorothy I. Height by serving as active leaders in the community, advocating for children and empowering women of African descent.
The heartbeat and most valuable asset of the Prince George’s County Section is our membership. Our section is not just an organization; it’s a family bound by shared values and a commitment to positively impacting our community and beyond. Our members continuously work to ensure that we are at the forefront of providing awareness and promoting economic empowerment, S.T.E.A.M., education, health equity and social justice. We also work collectively to provide support services to our local community and surrounding areas through efforts such as assisting food pantries, feeding the homeless, caring for seniors and mentoring the youth with many of our initiatives supporting families in various crisis situations such as homelessness, abuse, and domestic violence.
As you navigate our website, our hope is that the camaraderie, purpose, and spirit that has defined our section for more than four decades be reflected. From our charitable endeavors to the bonds of sisterhood that we foster, every aspect of our presence here is a testament to our shared journey. We eagerly welcome new members with innovative ideas and a willingness to work. We also extend an invitation for community partners to join us in our efforts.
May your time on our website be enlightening and inspiring. The best is truly yet to come!
